The Emmerdale actress has sons Buster, 10, Bowie, 5, and 1-year-old Ace with co-star husband Matthew Wolfenden.

Speaking to OK!, Charley said that she wouldn’t continue with homeschooling once the pandemic is over as it’s not the right path for them.

“They’re very sociable and they do love going to school, even though Buster hates it sometimes,” she said.

“There are some days I cry because I’m so stressed but I still love having them around me all the time.

“Bowie started school in September and I was an absolute mess. I just couldn’t get over it and then suddenly he’s back home with me and I just love it.”

Charley continued: “It’s just really intense. Some days you just wake up and you don’t feel great. You think, ‘Oh God, I’ve got another day’ and it’s like Groundhog Day every day.

“Then there’s the stress of the homeschooling, which is the worst part. Some days, you just need to take yourself away and have a bit of a cry, and then you feel so much better afterwards.

“But I know us having the kids at home driving us insane is nothing compared with what some other people are going through.”

The Debbie Dingle actress added: “There have been times where I just feel everything is so overwhelming.

“In the first lockdown I was on my phone constantly and always watching the news because I was so obsessed something was going to happen to one of the kids.

“Now, I never watch the news and I have no idea what’s going on – and that’s helped.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
