2 finalists announced for Boston Public Schools Superintendent

BOSTON — The two finalists for the open up Boston Public Educational institutions Superintendent situation have been announced Tuesday. They are Superintendent of Somerville General public Educational institutions Mary Skipper and Location 1 Superintendent for Boston Community Faculties Dr. Tommy Welch. 

Dr. Brenda Cassellius announced in February that she would be stepping down at the close of the university calendar year. She succeeded Tommy Chang who resigned right after 3 several years.

Skipper has been the superintendent in Somerville for 7 years. Prior to that, she was the Community Superintendent of High Universities for BPS, wherever she oversaw 34 superior educational facilities serving about 19,500 college students. 

Welch oversees 15 educational facilities, serving around 7,000 pupils across Charlestown, East Boston, and the North Finish as the Region 1 Superintendent. Welch has worked in city education and learning for over two a long time. He joined BPS in 2015 right after currently being the principal of a Los Angeles higher faculty.

The general public interviews will take put on Thursday and Friday. They will be open up by way of Zoom and Boston City Television

The College Committee will meet up with future Wednesday evening to vote.
